David Van Talks His Motivation Behind Acting 

“I think most actors and artists can relate in some way to “not being good enough”. A ridiculous notion, but it definitely plays a factor. I just want to be better, as best as I can be, and do more. Every project I’ve ever been on, I’ve learned something. I’ve grown from it. And it’s fun! Who doesn’t want to do fun things?  What I love most is exploring the experience of a life that’s completely different than my own. I love people, they’re fascinating. And every script is an opportunity to play as a living being. So far they’ve mostly been humans, but I’ve played some humanoids too. The deep connection to my entire self and the people I get to share these moments with is beautifully euphoric.” 

Behind the Scenes of an HBO Production

David recently shared his experience working on an HBO set. “I just recently had the honor and privilege to work on an incredible HBO set with some amazing people and artists.” While he won’t be appearing on screen, he emphasized the invaluable experience gained from being involved in the production. “You won’t see me in it, but it was an incredible experience, and I’m excited for what’s to come after.”

The Thrill of the Set: David’s Favorite Aspect of Acting

We asked David what his favorite part of acting was, and his answer was clear: “Being on set is definitely my favorite part of the whole thing. That’s the real play time, whereas auditioning is more the job.”

He acknowledges the unique excitement of auditioning: “Auditioning does bring its own thrill and excitement though. That’s your shot to just do what you do, then you let it go.” However, the collaborative and energetic atmosphere of being on set is what truly captivates him. “Being on set is so much fun. All the people you get to meet, talk to, create with. The energy is indescribable.”
