Noella Jung — Award-Winning Talent and Renowned Violinist — Stars in Alchemy in Venice as Festival Run Begins October 16
The artistic pulse of Venice Beach takes center stage in Alchemy in Venice, an independent film that brings together music, romance, visual art, and sustainability. The film launches its upcoming festival run at the Newport Beach Film Festival on Friday, October 16 at 5:00 PM, followed by a screening at the Awareness Film Festival on Sunday, October 18 at 7:30 PM.
When Music Brings People Together
Creativity becomes a catalyst for unexpected change in Alchemy in Venice, a character-driven story unfolding amid the beaches, canals, and artistic energy of Venice, California. The film brings together three artists at pivotal moments in their lives, including Sua, a classically trained violinist played by actress and musician Noella Jung, who performs as Sua in the film along the boardwalk while pursuing dreams of the world’s great stages.
A Violinist Discovers Another Side of Her Art
As new opportunities, relationships, and creative collaborations emerge, the characters begin to reconsider what success and artistic fulfillment truly mean.
Sua becomes immersed in a community where discarded materials are transformed into meaningful works of art and eventually joins forces with Evan to explore an artistic approach shaped by music, photography, art history, sustainability, and creative reuse. Blending themes of ambition, love, reinvention, and human connection, Alchemy in Venice explores how the pursuit of art can lead people toward futures they never expected.
Noella Jung Shares Inspiration Playing Sua:
“Although Sua was inspired by many of my own experiences and emotions, she is not me. She has her own history, dreams, and way of seeing the world. One of the most rewarding parts of this journey was discovering both the similarities and differences between us as I moved from writing her story to fully inhabiting her character on screen. Alchemy in Venice is ultimately a film about transformation—not the erasure of life’s wounds, but the way they can shape us, deepen us, and lead us toward unexpected beauty. Through art, nature, and human connection, the film explores the healing that becomes possible when we remain open to change. Filmmaker and artist Jon Fitzgerald created original artwork for Alchemy in Venice using reclaimed materials and discarded media. The collection includes mixed-media mosaics incorporating found objects, artworks constructed from recycled VHS materials, portraits created from cassette ribbon, and charcoal drawings made on reclaimed surfaces.
The production art echoes the film’s larger interest in reinvention: materials once considered obsolete or disposable become vehicles for new stories.
