For Armesha Shakura, the journey into acting began long before stepping onto a set. Movies have always been a major source of inspiration and motivation throughout her life.
“What’s a big motivation and has always been a motivation and inspiration for me to be the best at my profession is movies,” she explains. “I’ve always been inspired by films and what impact they’ve had on me as a person first and as an actor.”
From an early age, she found herself captivated by the performers she watched on television and in theaters. The ability of actors to transport audiences into different worlds sparked her imagination and ultimately fueled her desire to pursue a career in entertainment.
“It’s always been a thrill for me ever since I was a little girl to look at actors on TV and film,” she says.
That fascination has evolved into a professional mission: creating stories and performances that leave a lasting impression on audiences just as movies have done for her.
A Passion for Horror and Powerful Storytelling
While many actors enjoy exploring multiple genres, Shakura has a clear favorite when it comes to what she loves watching most.
“My favorite genre is horror movies,” she reveals. “I am obsessed with scary movies because they have the best plots.”
For her, horror offers far more than jump scares and suspense. She appreciates the depth and complexity often found within the genre, believing many horror films don’t always receive the recognition they deserve.
“A lot of them I feel are overlooked because of how horrific and gruesome they can be sometimes, but horror is my all-time favorite movie genre.”
Her admiration for horror storytelling reflects her appreciation for projects that challenge audiences emotionally while exploring themes of fear, resilience, and the human experience.
Bringing Her Own Vision to the Screen
Armesha recently reached an exciting milestone by completing her first personal film project, stepping beyond acting and taking a more hands-on role in storytelling.
“I just finished wrapping up my first personal project,” she shares.
The horror short film follows a young woman who returns home during spring break hoping to escape the pressures of college life and reconnect with her father. However, what begins as a chance to rest soon becomes something far more unsettling.
“It’s a horror short film about a young adult girl who visits her father for spring break,” says Armesha. “She visits her father to get away from college stress and rest a bit more, but this young adult girl has a troubled past with trauma that once left but unfortunately returns again.”
The project has already been submitted to several film festivals, marking an important step in her creative journey. While she remains excited about the film’s future, she’s intentionally keeping many details under wraps until the festival review process is complete.
“I’m excited about it, but I don’t want to share much more than the plot of it until it’s been reviewed by all festivals.”
