Rising actress Ashleigh Dillon is steadily making her mark in entertainment with passion, determination, and a genuine love for acting. In this interview, she opens up about what excites her most about being part of DC Bounty Hunter, what the experience has taught her as a performer, and how this year has shaped her both personally and professionally.
What’s been the most exciting part of being cast in DC Bounty Hunter?
Ashleigh Dillon – A: The most exciting thing about being cast in this film is the storyline behind it. It is not only being filmed in Washington, DC, but the story is about Washington, DC as well. I am a press secretary in this film, which honestly is a fun character to bring to life. The culmination of hard work, followed by the opportunity to bring a new character to life, is very rewarding. Also, it is great to collaborate with other artists who do the same work. Everyone on the team has been amazing and very kind to work with. I can’t wait to see where this project goes!
Can you share more about your role and experience on set?
Ashleigh Dillon – A: In my current role as a Press Secretary on DC Bounty Hunter, I was responsible for knowing my lines, but also being able to demonstrate improvisation if needed. A key achievement was when I was able to follow through with this naturally with my co-stars. I strive to do my best in any role I’m given and to take my job seriously. Acting is very hard work, but it is very rewarding in many ways. The other actors I worked with were extremely nice and have amazing talent.
What’s one thing you’ve learned about yourself as an actor while working on this series?
Ashleigh Dillon – A: I have learned that my determination and stamina are stronger than I imagined they would be, for one. All of my determination comes from a genuine love of storytelling and a fascination with human psychology. I believe acting allows me to explore the truth of a character and offer an audience a new perspective, which keeps me driven even during tough times. I learned to trust my instincts more. Early on, I was trying to plan out every moment, but I realized that my best work happened when I was in the moment and reacted naturally to my scene partners rather than sticking to a preconceived plan. I also learned to be more flexible, as things can change fast on set. I realized that my job isn’t to be perfect; it is to be adaptable and to find the truth in the scene, even if the scene changed five minutes before we started filming. The stamina comes from understanding that this business has a lot of rejection from auditions, but there are a few where you get selected. I’ve learned not to take it personally and to focus on the joy of the audition itself rather than just the outcome. I know that giving up isn’t an option if you want success.
How would you explain your year so far?
Ashleigh Dillon – A: This year, starting out, has been extremely difficult and challenging. I personally had four close deaths back to back; one included my mother, whom I was very close to. She is the one who taught me how to act and sing as a kid. She used to direct plays and sing around the community. She was my biggest cheerleader for success, and it makes me so happy to pursue this career in honor of her and for my own happiness. Since I have been pursuing this, I have had so many open doors that God has blessed me with already. Not only was I able to get a talent manager, I have booked a few projects such as feature films, shorts, and even commercials in the future. I also still plan on working toward my music again as well. I can’t wait to see what the future holds and this new path ahead.
