The Creative Process: Katricia’s Perspective
When asked what her favorite part about acting is, Katricia shared her passion for the rehearsal process, saying:
“The rehearsal process is often where I feel most creatively alive. It’s the space where uncertainty is welcome and where choices can be tested without the pressure of outcome. I enjoy dissecting the script, particularly the subtext, asking why a line is said now and not earlier, or how a character’s objective is shifting moment to moment. During rehearsals or table reads, I often build timelines and emotional maps, not just for the character’s arc, but also for smaller, scene-specific shifts. I’ll note vocal patterns, silences, and moments of retraction. These tools help me move through the material like a musician through a score, understanding when to crescendo and when to hold back.”
Katricia added:
“Filming is rewarding in a different way. It’s about containment and precision. The energy shifts from exploration to execution. I’m very aware of how small the frame is, so I work internally and let the camera do the rest. That contrast between rehearsal and filming is fascinating to me.”
