Joe, so great to have you! Can you share more details about your latest film project?
Joe Boi: Thank you for having me. I’m excited to be back. My latest film project is called For the Glory, and it’s about a teen girl who goes against her high school rival in a local MMA tournament. The story explores the journey of a young protagonist who discovers her passion through resilience, discipline, and self-empowerment. I wanted to explore not only the physical challenges but also the spiritual growth and emotional journey that the main character embarks on.
What inspired you to create this film?
Joe Boi: I didn’t want to write just a sports film—I wanted it to be a coming-of-age story that showcases the strength and determination of a young woman pursuing her dreams in a challenging environment. I wanted to see how hard her work ethic had to be for the overall story to be authentic in and out of the fight scenes.
What do you want audiences to experience when watching?
Joe Boi: I’d love the audience to experience a journey of fighting against all odds with everything one tries, and it’s still not enough; yet, somehow with the human spirit, we find a way to rise up and fight back. I want them to feel inspired by the protagonist’s determination and growth, both as an athlete and as an individual. The film goes into the personal challenges and triumphs she faces, and I hope viewers will connect with her story on an emotional level.
As an award-winning filmmaker, what is the one thing that has contributed to your success?
Joe Boi: As an award-winning filmmaker, I can assure you that you probably won’t win all the time, but you can’t let a loss stop you. Always get back up, learn from your mistakes—challenges always come with solutions. Even if you don’t see them yet. They’re out there just waiting for you to discover them.
Do you have any other news you can reveal?
Joe Boi: Besides For the Glory, I’m also seeking investors for another project of mine called Static. It dives into the horrors of dementia and how one couple deals with the situation of taking care of their own and the challenges that come with that.
